How ANIV is run
The volunteers who lead the association, what each role does, and the rules we operate by.
Our founding executive
A group of members came together in 2024 to form the first executive of the association. ANIV is run entirely by volunteers.
Ashafu Lawal
President
Leads the association and represents ANIV in its dealings with community partners, government, media and sponsors. Chairs executive and general meetings, sets the association's strategic direction alongside the executive, and carries the responsibility of keeping ANIV's decisions aligned with what it exists to do.
Angela Sutton
Vice President
Supports the President and stands in when needed. Oversees assigned programs from planning through to evaluation, keeps the executive portfolios working together, and steps in where member concerns need a fair hearing.
Chuma Paemka
Secretary
Keeps the record of the association: minutes, agendas, correspondence and the documents members rely on. Manages official communication between the executive and the membership, and maintains the membership roll, including renewals and welcoming new members.
Mariam Ifejika
Treasurer General
Responsible for the financial health of the association — the annual budget, the books, reporting to members, and the filings and audits that come with running a registered organisation. Also supports fundraising and the search for financial support.
Juliana Olorode
Financial Secretary
Works with the Treasurer on budgets and forecasts, records and processes the association's day-to-day transactions, prepares monthly financial reporting for the executive, and manages donation records so every contribution is properly acknowledged and used as intended.
Folarin Ayodele
Youth Engagement and Social Coordinator
Builds the programs that bring young people in: mentorship pairings with experienced professionals, workshops, and support for education and career development. Represents youth interests at the executive table and runs the association's social media presence.
Ebi Frank-Imoh
Welfare, Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator
Holds two connected responsibilities — making sure ANIV's activities are genuinely open to everyone, and making sure members who need help can get it. Runs health and wellness initiatives, maintains a confidential route for members to request assistance, and builds partnerships with organisations offering counselling, financial and legal support.
Alex Obiene
Project and Event Coordinator
Plans and runs the association's events and projects end to end: concept, budget, schedule, venue, vendors, and the logistics that make the difference between an event happening and an event working. Also drives the promotion that gets members through the door.
Pelumi Obanwo
Grant Coordinator
Finds the funding. Researches grant opportunities that fit what ANIV is trying to do, writes and submits the proposals, and manages the funds and reporting once they arrive so ANIV remains an organisation funders want to keep supporting.
Hauwa Bello-Kassim
Public Relations Officer
The association's voice outward. Handles media enquiries and relationships with local outlets, prepares press releases and statements, shapes how ANIV communicates across its channels, and produces the newsletter that keeps members informed.
How the executive is structured
The executive is elected by the membership at the Annual General Meeting and serves a defined term. It meets regularly through the year to plan programs, review finances and carry out the association's work, and it is accountable to members at general meetings, where decisions, reports and accounts are shared openly. Any member in good standing may stand for a position when a term comes up for election.
